General description: It is situated on the right bank of the river 46 miles below Rosario and has a population of about 140.000. It has an important iron and steel industry, Siderar (ex Somisa) is located there. It also has important agricultural interests and is near one of the most important farming regions in the country.
Description of berths:
The port consists of four distinct sections which from north to south are as follows:
New Port, Grain Elevator, Central Termica, Puerto Ing. Buitrago.
At datum Pto Buitrago Mineral berth 6.2m - 6.8m. Commercial berth 8.6m - 9m. Central Térmica 9.8m - 12.8m. New Port 8.0m - 8.7m. Newport Access Channel 7m. Hidrovia SA has to maintain least depth of 30ft in the main channel route.
The only restriction is for vessels that intend to transit Mitre Channel, they should have a LOA of 230 m, otherwise no official LOA/Beam restrictions.
Not required for berthing/unberthing. Nearest available tugs stationed at Villa Constitución.
